Exciting news!!
Thanks to generous donations from our club members, we have reached our fundraising goals for the Middle School Nordic program!! We truly appreciate how our community comes together to support our youth! Check back in late 2023 for information on the program kick off!
With the success of the Pagosa Springs High School Nordic Ski Program, interest has turned to expanding the program to the Middle School!
The Pagosa Nordic Club has been advocating for youth X-C Skiing programs since we started 15 years ago. Though an elementary school program has been conducted by Lindsey Kurt-Mason for decades, there were no High School or Middle School programs. However, once two champions stepped forward to run the High School program 3 years ago, PNC was happy to fundraise and purchase 20 full sets of skate skiing equipment. After seeing the success of the High School Nordic Program, we now have champions stepping up for starting a 4th-8th grade Middle School Nordic Program, and PNC is excited to fundraise for 12 full sets of equipment for this program.
The Pagosa Nordic Club is currently fund raising for up to $5,000 to purchase 12 full sets of Skate Skiing gear (skis, bindings, poles and boots). The equipment is new and good quality.
The PNC will continue providing the grooming equipment and volunteers needed to groom Yamaguchi Park and a course on the High School property for convenient after school skiing.
What we need now is your help in fundraising $5,000 to purchase equipment to outfit the Middle School participants!
Our local Alpen Haus Ski Center has generously offered to coordinate the purchase of gear from their suppliers at cost for the program. If an overage of donations are received, the funds will be set in a Youth Nordic Ski Program account for future year youth program needs.
Please help support this new age group in the Youth Nordic Ski Program by donating today. All donations regardless of size will help us achieve our funding goal that will jumpstart a Middle School Nordic Ski Program next season!
